My lord, what an absolutely beautiful piece. Makes me want to learn more about arms and armor from the region. I used to work for a Sikh family, great people.

Just noticed, isn't interesting that she and the young man are positioned so that there are prickly roses between them??. What a fragrance , but they'll sting you!! Almost as if it's saying, it's gonna "prick" you, what a double entendre!!. Or the opposite, that "fooling around" can get quite prickly!!. Interesting.........

The restoration has brought back the "ethereal -ness". The unknown of young love. The exhilarating vibrancy of spontaneity. And the misty depths going back into the painting, feels like you can dive right in!!. And those pinks , ahhh, those pinks!. The innocent blush of young love!. One can almost feel the fabric!.

Thank you for this brief glimpse into a most talented artist. It is a visual feast every time I get to see items from The Wallace Collection!!. To hear you talk in depth adds the layer of humanity that is missing in an inanimate piece of furniture. Thank you for bringing this furniture alive.

Augsburg is in modern day Bavaria but it still is to the day a suabian city, so Pfeffenhauser was probably a Schwob.

I liked this presentation. Helps with exploring Baroque. Hals's realism seems to show more than any other painter warmth beyond charm in his sitters. Thanks!

The first bust we see fails the speakers' own 'test' of slavery, and doesn't show them in chains. This is self contradictory, and perhaps generalised, generic statements about all European views of Africans don't standup. As they're Italian, what empire are they allegedly representing - the Italians didn't have a colonial empire, not were they involved in the slave trade.

Maximilian's armour at 16:05 with the slick horizontal slit in the helmet has a distinct Robocop vibe about it. It looks so futuristic or maybe the creators of Robocop took unexpected inspiration in the artefacts of the past.

can you adjust the color on the thumbnail or replace it with the correct colors as the artist intended? - this pic is currently and obviously far too yellow (pre-varnish restoration obviously) - just move the slider in a photo editor towards the cool and blue side, do it for the future inspiration of real artists out there! This inattention to detail suggests a sloppy editor who is not trained in how to see fine art - you can fix this if you really care about keeping the public interested in the best art out there, please.

I love these works of art. Nobody today can quite capture what these masters' paintings did. The other thing, is these paintings had a suggestion hidden in them, the more you look the more you can't not see.
